On a beautiful autumn morning, a group of eighteen including past president Max Wilson and his wife Margaret, gathered at the Proclamation Cairn. We learnt about the history of Country, the significance of the Peace Garden including its connection with the people of India, and public artworks in Peace Park and along Macquarie River/Wambuul. Several members stayed on to have lunch together, share stories and sweets, and socialise. “What a deadly (awesome, fantastic, great) day”. A number of art events have crossed our desk of late, promising a wide variety of art experiences from architecture, public art walks, and three exhibitions opening at the Gallery, to classical Indian music, and choral performances. Good atmosphere, good food, and good company. That was how the Summer Cocktails event was described by many who attended. Uplifted by the sounds of Gwenda Davies' harp, our Society's first event of the year hosted sixty-five members and friends at Norma Joan Bar and Eatery.  The event raised about $3,000 from our community to continue our task of supporting the vitally important Bathurst Regional Art Gallery. Bathurst Heritage Matters in partnership with BRAGS had hoped for more submissions but are grateful to announce winners for two out of the fourteen themes available. No acquisition prize was awarded. Results were announced during the exhibition opening of A Tear in the Fabric at the Art Gallery on 19 September 2025. Congratulations to Samantha Larnarch and David Young. Read more. In response, the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery Society (BRAGS Inc.) invites the community to step up and show their support by attending Primavera – a black-tie fundraising gala at BoxGrove on Saturday 30 August 2025.
